A Heatwave Look by Comme Un Camion

It's with a touch of sadness that I'm writing this last look, conceived in Brittany. I say sadness because it's also the last project we're working on with Pierrot, the truck's stylist for the past two years. There's also a sense of excitement at the end of this season. I'm already looking forward to seeing the whole gang arrive in Brittany, where I write my articles every month. I can, without regret, say goodbye to the early morning train schedules at Montparnasse station and look forward to cycling to the future offices! So, for this last look with Pierrot, I'm offering you something that reflects my personality. An outfit with touches that take into account the weather that France is likely to experience in the coming days.

In contrast to my previous look, the clothes are loose, leaving only the essentials. Coco Chanel said that " fashion is architecture: everything is a question of proportions, " and while it's hard to disagree with that, I think it's easier to find the right balance with fewer items. Besides, when the temperature is nearing thirty degrees Celsius, I gladly do without unnecessary accessories. So here's a look that will be with me for a good part of my summer, and perhaps yours too!

The basic idea was to create an outfit that allowed me to breathe without looking like I was on vacation. To achieve this, I highly recommend paying attention to three things: the fabric , the cut , and the color of your clothes. I started by choosing the trousers ; they're from Casatlantic , a young brand created by Nathaniel Asseraf, whose father owns the famous vintage shop Broadway & Sons in Sweden. Casatlantic offers trousers inspired by 1960s Moroccan chinos. The cuts are wide , which is a welcome relief. Firstly, because they allow for better airflow, but also because it's much easier to build an outfit around them! In this look, I'm wearing Safi trousers with a 21 cm leg opening. As for my size, I'm 1.80 m tall and weigh 70 kg, and I wear a 30x30. My only regret is that the fabric is quite thick, as I mainly bought these pants to use over 4 seasons, but there are versions in a linen and cotton blend!

Inspired by my trousers straight from Morocco, I wanted to emphasize a slightly Mediterranean style (because I can't fool anyone with my fair complexion). I opted for the tank top and shirt combo. I know what you're thinking: not everyone is comfortable in a tank top ! Yet it has some undeniable qualities. The first is that it doesn't have sleeves—no joke—and is therefore cooler than a t-shirt! Of course. The second is more stylistic. The tank top evokes military attire but also a certain American Sunday tradition. And unless you're wearing it with briefs and flip-flops, I wouldn't advise against it.

So I opted for a top from the brand Les Tricots Marcel . I wanted something simple that reflected my desire to no longer buy clothes produced in poor conditions. Les Tricots Marcel meets these requirements with this tank top made in France and adds a nice little detail with the embroidered glasses on the chest. This summer, it's all about showing off your body, and that's just fine.

Let's get back to Coco Chanel talking about proportions. I had to choose a shirt to rebalance this outfit, which was half slim, half loose . So I opted for a loose-fitting shirt that would let the breeze flow through. Of course, if there's one fabric that appeals to us during the warmer months, it's linen ! I fell for a model fromOctobre , particularly because of its beautiful color. I usually wear a small in this brand, so I decided to get it in a medium to better achieve my goals. The shoulders are slightly dropped, I can easily roll up the sleeves, and the shirt falls to mid-thigh. Yes, it's wrinkled, but who cares? It's linen; it has character, it wrinkles—it's summer, after all!

Those who know me won't be surprised by the sneakers I'm wearing. While I have very little affinity for sneakers in general, I'm a huge fan of canvas trainers. For several years now, I've been buying and rebuying pairs of Novesta . The Slovakian brand developed these shoes for the army and marching in 1939. While I strongly advise against hiking in them, they're my favorite shoes for summer. When I saw the collaboration between Novesta and De Bonne Facture , I jumped at the chance to incorporate them into my look. The unique thing about this model: they're made of linen! Yes, very well-sourced Belgian linen that gives a more rustic look to these otherwise rather tame sneakers.

Let's not forget those precious sunglasses to combat the scorching heat of the summer. At midday, pull out these Ray-Ban Clubmasters! The Italian brand is no secret to anyone, but I'd like to remind you that this pair is still made on the other side of the Alps. Besides giving my outfit a very American retro look, they're a little nod to a film I really love. In Reservoir Dogs , Tim Roth, aka Mr. Orange, wears the same ones!

Finally, I'm wearing a Charlie Paris watch: the Bastille. It's a city timepiece, but it retains a touch of adventure with its brown strap (which I chose) and small seconds subdial at 6 o'clock. The watch is assembled in France and houses a Miyota 0T45 quartz movement . I appreciate its understated elegance, which perfectly complements my outfit: a summer look.
