Inspired by the fascinating history of Établissements Marcel, a Roanne-based company that pioneered the French marcel and is now defunct, the Tricots Marcel brand was founded in 2019 with the ambition of bringing this popular and iconic French garment back to life.

The "marcel roannais" is our living heritage.

To write this new chapter for the marcel, Tricots Marcel set up shop in Roanne, in the Loire region, the cradle of French knitwear. As the historical manufacturing workshops no longer exist, Tricots Marcel selected partner workshops in Roanne that perpetuate the same exceptional expertise.

From fabric dyeing to manufacturing and quality control, our signature marcels are designed, knitted, assembled, and labeled in Roanne.

It's in Roanne that we design our signature tank top, alongside our partner workshops that have been helping us bring this icon to life since 2019. We are proud to offer an essential wardrobe item 100% made in France, in the very place where the true French tank top was conceived in the 1930s.

It's in Portugal that our knits with elastane and our pieces with assertive cuts are produced.

Between Roanne and Portugal, our European production reflects our commitment: combining savoir-faire, proximity, and high standards, to create essential pieces, designed to transcend trends, seasons, and years.
